Learn to fly legally in Canada

Everything we teach, in the order you need it. The Basic exam course is free and always will be — start there. The paid material begins where free material honestly runs out: the Advanced syllabus, the documents you file on a job, and the in-person review that finishes your certificate.

New to this? The complete Basic RPAS exam course is free — all eight Transport Canada subject areas, 20 practice questions, no signup.

Transport Canada publishes everything the Basic exam draws from, so there is no honest reason to charge for it. We wrote the whole course out and put it on the site.

Also free: the full reference library — fourteen pages covering registration, recency, where you can fly, Ontario bylaws, insurance and costs — and a ten-question Advanced sampler if you want to see the harder syllabus before you spend anything.

Step two · Advanced

Where free runs out.

The Advanced exam is a different animal: 50 questions in 60 minutes at 80% to pass, and it asks about airspace, meteorology and human factors at a depth no free Basic course covers. This is the material for that.

Straight answers

Before you buy anything.

Where do I start if I have no certificate yet?

With the free Basic course. It covers all eight Transport Canada subject areas at Basic depth and costs nothing, and the 20-question practice quiz tells you whether you're ready to sit the real exam. Nothing on this page is worth buying until you've been through it.

What's the difference between the free quiz and the paid practice exam?

The free quiz is 20 questions at Basic depth and runs in your browser. The paid practice exam is 50 original questions pitched at the Advanced syllabus, weighted the way the real exam is, grouped by knowledge area with every answer explained and a scoring guide. Different exam, different level.

Do I need the guide if I've done the free course?

Only if you're going Advanced. The free course takes you through the Basic exam end to end. The Operations Guide covers the harder Advanced syllabus — airspace, meteorology, human factors and emergencies — at the depth that exam actually asks for.

Are these downloads or physical products?

Downloads. Everything except the flight review is a PDF, delivered immediately after checkout through Payhip. Nothing ships and nothing is posted.

How current is all this?

Current to the regulations in force in 2026, including the amendments that came into effect on 4 November 2025 — Level 1 Complex operations, medium RPAS, EVLOS and sheltered operations. Every document carries the date it was last verified against Transport Canada's published rules.
