Privacy Policy
The short version: this is a one-person business, it collects very little, it sells nothing to anybody, and you can have any of it deleted by sending one email.
Last updated 8 August 2026.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Drone's View Canada is a sole proprietorship operated by Chris Jones from Guelph, Ontario. Chris is the person accountable for personal information collected through this site, and the person who answers when you email about it: dronesviewcanada@gmail.com.
This policy is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal private-sector privacy law that applies to this business.
2. What is collected, and why
Only four things, and each only when you choose to give it.
When you join the email list
Your email address. It is used to send the free resource you asked for and occasional updates about Canadian drone regulation. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. The list is held by MailerLite, whose servers are in the European Union.
When you use a form on this site
The flight review booking form and the aerial work enquiry form collect what you type into them — typically your name, email, location and a description of what you need. It is used to answer you, quote the work and schedule it. Nothing else. Form submissions are processed by Netlify, which hosts this site, and are stored on servers in the United States.
When you buy something
Purchases are handled entirely by Payhip and PayPal. They collect your payment details; this site never sees them and never stores them. What comes back is your email address and what you bought, so the file can be delivered and re-downloaded. Their privacy policies govern the payment itself.
When you simply read a page
Anonymous usage statistics through PostHog — which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what kind of device. It tells us which pages are worth writing more of. It does not identify you by name, and there is no advertising network on this site, no retargeting pixel, and nothing sold to a data broker.
3. What is never done with it
Your information is not sold, rented, traded or shared for anyone else's marketing. There is no affiliate tracking on this site. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the change is dated.
4. Where it is kept, and for how long
Some of the services above store data outside Canada, principally in the United States and the European Union. While it is there it is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by their authorities. That is the ordinary consequence of using hosted services and it is stated here because PIPEDA expects you to be told.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe, or until the list is closed.
- Form enquiries: kept while the work is live and for a reasonable period after, then deleted.
- Purchase records: retained as long as tax law requires.
- Analytics: aggregate, not tied to you.
5. Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for a copy, ask for anything inaccurate to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Email dronesviewcanada@gmail.com and you will get an answer within 30 days, usually far sooner. There is no charge and no form to fill in.
If you are not satisfied with how a request was handled, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
6. Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. PostHog uses minimal local storage to avoid counting the same visitor twice. Blocking it in your browser will not stop any page from working.
7. Aerial work and imagery
Commissioned flights may capture identifiable people, vehicles or property incidentally. Flights are planned to avoid gathering more than the job requires, footage is delivered to the client who commissioned it and is not published without permission, and privacy expectations are discussed as part of the site survey before the flight rather than after it. Provincial privacy law — and in Quebec, articles 35 and 36 of the Civil Code — may also apply to imagery of identifiable individuals.
8. Children
This site is written for adults pursuing a drone pilot certificate. The minimum age for a Basic certificate is 14, so some readers may be minors. No information is knowingly collected from anyone under 14. If you believe a child has submitted something, email and it will be deleted.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes affecting people already on the email list will be announced in an email rather than quietly edited in.
